ULAB Center for Sustainable Development Holds a Seminar on “The Cruelty in Our Food”

ULAB Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) and Sustainable Development Club jointly organized a seminar on 24th October, 2017 at the seminar room, Campus B, ULAB. The seminar was based on “The Cruelty in Our Food”. The seminar began with the speeches from Dr. Samiya Selim, director, CSD and Imran Rahman, Dean of School of Business. They shared few of their real life experiences about food habit. The main speaker of the seminar was Rubaiya Ahmed, Founder, Obhoyaronno Bangladesh Animal Welfare. She mainly focused on our food habit and motivated everyone to avoid red meat and processed animal products which included egg, milk etc. She asked everyone to shift their meat eating habit to a plant based diet as they carried proteins, minerals and other nutrients. Furthermore, she also mentioned about “Meatless Monday” which is being followed globally and that we all should adapt soon. Lastly the students responded saying they found the seminar to be a very knowledgeable and fruitful one and that they would want more of such programs to be held.
