Mission:
The ULAB Literary Society - Paper Canoe is a lively community devoted to encouraging and advancing literature among students. Our mission is to develop a profound appreciation for literature in all its forms by helping students actively interact with literary works to further develop their critical thinking and understanding. Additionally, we aim to encourage creative expression and a love for literature within the university community.
Vision:
Our vision is to establish a vibrant literary culture at ULAB that motivates students to read, explore, and engage with literature. We aspire to create a space where everyone can share their passion for literature and creativity. Our goal is to become a centre of literary creativity and thought-provoking conversation where all students feel encouraged to express their ideas and creative abilities.
Objectives:
- Encouraging the creation of literature in all its forms, from classic to modern, as well as reviews, music, art, poetry, and painting.
- Publishing student writings and artwork to provide them with a platform to demonstrate their talents.
- Organizing competitions and exhibitions to boost participation and attract more people to literary pursuits.
- Arranging book talks, seminars, and workshops that improve the comprehension of literature.
- Promoting and enhancing the culture of literary practices and creativity through literary events.
- Arranging events that build a community of writers and learners passionate about literature.
- Through these activities, Paper Canoe hopes that all ULABians will find literature interesting and approachable.
